I remember once in 2019/2020 someone said I should consider learning to code but I brushed it off cause I thought to myself, it is not for me but for intelligent and smarts kids! I’m neither of those, just a girl who has to work extremely hard at whatever she those! Fast forward to me listening to @Dominus_kelvin talk about Java Script and me thinking I could learn it just for learning sake, but a friend said to just learn web dev, so I applied and got admitted into @hertechtrailAcademy! If you ask me today! I’ll tell you everyone can code!

My name is Philemon Dianne Azi and this is a story about my jorney in Hertechtrail Academy! Cohort 7 (starter track), Permit me to call myself a frontend web desveloper!

My journey into frontend web development has had so much ups and down but you know what, it’s has also being one of the most challenging, beautiful and most interesting jorney ever! All thanks to the best coach ever, Edozie Magdalene and Gloria Ojukwu for the platform! For making learning how to code look easy and seemless!

My jorney started with learning HTML, which is the skeleton of every design! Then we got to learn CSS, which showed us the magic of styling and beautifying codes, from there we got to learn bootstrap which enables responsiveness of website and we moved to JavaScript! Did I also mention that we were also taught how to navigate Git/Github, from creating our repository to pushing our codes to Github! Fetching, forking, cloning, hosting our website and some others!

We were giving different project to do every step of the wey and for our final project we were asked to clone our Coach porforlio project, when I heard this I was happy because I was like, forking a project should be easy, since I don’t have to build from scratch! That would probably be the biggest lie I told myself😂

This project taught me lots of things but most importantly it taught me patience, and attention to details, from studying the codes to seeing how it works and how to make it mine, to me trying to figure out if this is for me! I can’t remember how many times I sat for hours reading whether it’s the bootstrap file, css file or even html file just Make a change or figure out why code isn’t working, or me realizing that a colon ro semi common is the reason my code isn’t working, one time it wasn’t even cause my div wanst closed, sometimes I wondered if I dreamed to big and fell in too deep! I can’t even cants how many times in an hour I inspect my code just to figure out what the issue was.

I also can’t count how many times in the middle of pushing my Code to github I would encounter a problem and start over, sometimes I’ll spend trying to figure what I did wrong and why is my version code refusing to push or even pull when I need it to.

Feedback, corrections and recommendations are all welcomed.

Hertechtrail Academy didn’t just teach us but also provided a platform/ community where you get to meet people with like minds and interact! It’s has the best and most flexible curriculum ever, making it easy for everyone to learn Which I’m forever grateful to Gloria OJukwu for creaking and developing this community and giving people the opportunity to discover, rediscover themselves and help make their life’s better!

I would also love to say a thank you to the best and most amazing coach ever! I promise you, if coach maggy, Edozie Magdalene teaches you how to code, you would also think you can become the president, she makes it look easy and make you believe you can do it, for encouraging us during every class and also taking her time to correct us after Every project! It’s not easy, but you made it look easy. Thank you!

Also to my class rep Stephanie Ike who was always there guiding me helping and answering my question! To Sarah Lutaaya, you are the best accountability partner ever!

As I said my Jorney in Hertechtrail Academy has being full of ups and down, from me thinking I can, to me thinking I can’t! Am I anywhere near good, I would say a 60%! But I won’t stop here, I’ll take this, put more effort, go back to the beginning/ basics and learn so I can catch up to my peers and become the best frontend developer not just in Nigeria! But in the world at large! So all front end dev! Watch your backs! Thank you God, Thank you Hertechtrail Academy, Thank you Gloria Ojukwu Thank you Edozie Magdalene.
